Parasol
Black parasol, cover of silk satin with a black silk lace trim around the edge and red silk lining covering the ribs. One of the outer panels is embroidred with floral motifs using silk threads in brown, yellow, blue, red and green, the stitches used are mostly satin with stem stitch and French knots. There is a stiff silk cord loop with two black silk pom-poms and a twisted silk cord which is attached to the loop at one end (to hold the parasol closed) and sewn to one of the panels at the other end. The stick is wood, possibly bamboo, varnished with an ivory tip and handle, the handle is carved. The ribs are metal and there is a brass clip on the handle, there is a black silk satin ribbon tied in a bow.
