Woolen canvas, embroidered with coloured silks in eyelet and cross stitches. Divided horizontally by narrow bands of ornament into three compartments which contain the Lord's Prayer and the following inscriptions: " Thomas Slater Borne Iune 1666 / Abigail Slater Borne April 1673 / Elizabeth Slater Borne Sept 20 1700 / Susan Slater Borne August 16 1707 / Mary Slater Borne Feb ye 8 1702 / Elizabeth Slater Borne Feb 2 1704 / Abigail Slater Borne Nob 1 1706 / Thomas Slater Borne Iune 23 1708 ". " SUSAN SLATER MADE THIS SAMPLER AND / FINISHED IT NOVEMBERTHE 24 DAY 1709 / … Deare Parents I Address My Self To You / … Humble Thankfulness For All Your Cost And Care On / … The Means of Learning Unto Me Allowed" followed by numerals To 30. (Inscription partly illegible.) There is a narrow floral border. From Cardiff.
