In field, to either side, a shield: dext. chequy a chief ermine, TATTERSHALL (for Hugh Breton, lord of tattershall, founder), above which the letter, S; sin a cross moline, possibly for BEK or WILLOUGHBY, (benefactors to the abbey), over which the letter, K. (These initials might stand for Simon of Kirkstead, abbot in 1275-79). In base, under a triple archway, the abbot kneeling in prayer flanked on either side by a monk half-length.
