Slate splitting knife with wooden handle. Originally belonged to John 'Evan' Jones, of Bryn Aethwy, Llanberis. Born in 1888, he started at Dinorwig Quarries about the age of 12-14. Note, 'Evan' was inserted into his name by the quarry official as the new entrants were lined up in alphabetical order. He also used this knife at Glynrhonwy Quarries facing Dinorwic across Llyn Padarn.
