There was a Lady Aberdare Maternity Hospital in Mountain Ash with 10 Beds. Lady Aberdare, born 1827, died in April 1897 and was a proponent of women's education and active in the establishment of Aberdare Hall in Cardiff. Lady Aberdare was a proponent of higher education for women, and took an active part in ecclesiastical, social and educational matters.
