Archaeological excavation at Hafod foundry, Swansea, 21 August 2015. Looking WSW along line of roughly built culvert located north of and parallel to the north wall of the main foundry building. This culvert appears to have lain within a substantial structure abutting the north wall of the foundry and which reportedly was a boiler house. This, together with the form of the culvert suggest that functioned to drain down boilers when they were emptied for periodic cleaning. The waste boiler water would have flowed into the nearby river Tawe.
