Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
A porcelain figurine of three woman sitting at a table in Welsh costume drinking tea. Along the front of the base are the words " THE WELSH TEA PARTY".
The Welsh lady became a marketing gimmick. She appeared on china, jugs, plates, tea towels and all kinds of souvenirs. The development of the railways in the middle of the 1880s brought new tourists to Wales. Souvenirs became all the rage. The industry contributed to the Welsh costume becoming a national icon.
