Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Of a life-size man's head with a beard and the name '+ MORVS' on a band above the brow. Probably a misspelling of MORS, the Latin word for death. The head is on two pieces of stone with the greater part of the sculpture on the larger upper stone, with only the lower part of the beard on the lower stone. The upper part of the beard on this lower stone has been broken off. The two pieces of stone have not been joined and the edges are irregular. May have served as a corbel on the right side of the arch above the refectory pulpit.
Medieval corbel from Valle Crucis Abbey, north-east Wales. It was made from Cefn-y-fedw sandstone around 1250-1300. The word '+ MORVS' crowns the head of this sculpture.
