Roman samian bowl
5 samian bowl sherds, form Dr37, all from the same vessel. Pink ware with a dull rather light red slip. Mediocre moulding, neat ovolo - tongue with triffid tips. Panels with large X form motif. Heart-shaped corner leaves, central panel with gladiators. Late Southern Gaulish, AD 80-90.

Notes: Field adjoins the south-west side of the legionary fortress : 'A' material is from Courtyard House (Civil Settlement). Context: at 15-21 in occupation next below broken tile floor. Pre-stone.
