Cream jug

Mountigue, Benjamin (Workshop)

Small ewer shaped cream jug, sterling silver; standing on a pedestal foot, bulbous, pouch shaped body with a spreading rim, raised elongated spout; scrolled, high looped ogee handle with thumb spur; classical style reeding around lower bowl, the upper body chased with paterae in ornate cartouches with acanthus leaves and roses in swags, similar cartouche below spout containing the engraved inscription, 'R J B', punched beading to foot rim and lip rim, running husk border to base of foot, the handle with a raised acanthus leaf on upper section.
