Jar, drug
Drug jar, buff coloured earthenware, standing on a spreading pedestal foot, globular body, short cylindrical lip-rim, to the front of the body a short bulbous spout, plain loop handle; covered all over with a white tin-glaze, the front of the body below the spout painted in blue with the inscription "S. VIOLARUM / 1674", "S. VIOLARUM" is painted on a banner to the top of which is the head of a winged cherub, issuing out from the bottom of the banner are two stylized tassels which enclose the date "1674", the glaze slightly chipped in places.
