NANDI (7067gt) : Built 1943 as EMPIRE NIGEL by William Gray & Co Ltd., West Hartlepool, for MoWT. 1944 – Transferred to the USSR ("Russia") under a “lease-lend” agreement, and renamed initially ARCHANGEL, then ARCHANGELSK. 1946 – Returned to the UK Ministry of Transport, and renamed EMPIRE NIGEL. 1947 – Sold to W & R Carpenter & Co., Suva, Fiji, and renamed NANDI. 1948 – Sold to Bristol City Line (Charles Hill & Co) and renamed BRISTOL CITY. 1957 – Sold to Splona Plovidba, Yugoslavia, and renamed ZELENGORA. 1971 – Sold to Compagnia de Navigazione Portland SA, Panama, and renamed TARAS. She ws broken up at Split, Yugoslavia, in 1972.
