Figure group of man, young girl and lion, press moulded, white earthenware with a strongly blue tinted crackle glaze, black firing specks especially on left edge, and standing on an irregularly shaped oval base. Man, black sandals, in pink robe, naturalistically painted face, black hair, white and gilt helmet with a blue and a pink feather, forms the back of group, and is half seated on the lion with left leg drawn up on lion's back, right leg extended to ground, holding a grey club in his right hand against his right leg, right hand resting on lion's head. Girl, flesh coloured, naked apart from ample blue cloth around hips and white scarf with gilt detailing around head, brown hair, stands in front of the man, turning to viewer's right, with right hand on hip, left knee bent and left arm outstretched holding bow (?arrow missing). Resting lion, pink/brown with brown mane, yellow eyes, which also faces right, with head upraised and mouth open. Green grass, line around base plinth.
