Photograph at top of page 88 captioned along bottom, in white, " Dudley Works. Hook Norton. Oxon.".
Dudley's Ironstone Calcining Kiln located a little south of the Brymbo Company's Park Farm Ironstone Quarry. This kiln and it's associated quarries was not owned by the Brymbo Company, it was owned by the Earl of Dudley's Round Oak Steelworks at Brierly Hill Staffordshire. This kiln and it's associated quarries closed in 1916. The kiln is in use so the photo may date from c.1914 when Griffiths's other early Hook Norton photos commence.
Sketch showing the Hook Norton Ironstone Quarries and the Calcining Kilns drawn by Robert Protheroe Jones, based on 1920 OS 1/10560, in related material file.
