Mounted black and white photograph showing view of women wearing aprons, with sieve, buckets and coal.
Caption from exhibtion "Aberaman women collect their coal and carry it to the coal house. The grandmother of Julie Rees is second from left. Christopher Davies interviewed Ronald Davies 'The only running water was a cold water tap out the back. We had one toilet out the back and we used to cut up squares of newspaper for toilet paper. Our house had two bedrooms, a kitchen and a living room. The bedrooms were so cold that in the winter all the overcoats would be put on top of the bed to try to keep warm. At Christmas I would get one present and a Christmas Stocking. The Stocking contained some oranges, apples, nuts and chocolates.'"
