Sampler
LINEN CANVAS, unbleached, embroidered with coloured cottons in cross stitch. At the top, in nine horizontal rows separated by narrow ornamental stripes, are capital letters of the alphabet in duplicate and repeated singly, the alphabet in small letters thrice repeated, and numerals to 6, 12 and 11. At the bottom, in six rows, is a verse with the maker’s name and date. There is a border of a straight narrow stripe.
