Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Cast iron salamander, complete with stand. Named after the mythical lizard which could live in intense heat, the salamander was heated in the fire and then held over items such as pastries and meringues to brown the top of the food. They were used in the kitchens of larger houses.
