Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
A blue, green, and grey coloured bedspread/quilt made using pieces of gentlemen’s suits.
The bedspread was owned by the donor’s great grandmother and great grandfather who lived in Pwllheli and were married in 1866. The donor’s great uncle (the son of the great grandmother and great grandfather) worked in a draper’s store, ‘Siop Goch’, in Pwllheli at it is believed that he acquired the fabric pieces that were used to manufacture the bedspread whilst working at Siop Goch.
The bedspread/quilt was passed down through the family, and Diana H. Ewer decided to donate it to NSM.
As the bedspread/quilt dates from the late 19th-early 20th century it will be displayed in number 2 Fron Haul (1901 house) on a rota system to reduce the potential deterioration of textile objects on display in Fron Haul.
