Seal impression: Owain Glyn Dwr Great Seal

Complete replica of both sides of the seal. Obverse - Owain seated under a gothic-type canopy, wearing a cloak over a girdled robe, and having a bifid beard (similar to that on the seal of Richard II); his head bears a diminutive coronet, and he holds a sceptre in his right hand; the arms of his throne terminate in dragon's heads, its feet in claws; Owain's feet rest on two lions passant guardant coward addorsed; behind him supported by two angels is a mantle, semée of lions rampant. Reverse - Owain in armour, on horseback to the right; his right hand holds a sword extended, his left hand grasps a shield; quarterly, a lion rampant in each quarter; a kerchief de plesaunce pendant from his right wrist; his helmet surmounted by crown and mantling, and crest of winged dragon with two feet; horse's trapper bears quarterly, four lions rampant, and its head a crest of a similar winged dragon: in field, flowering foliage. (The four lions rampant, the ancient arms of Gwynedd, summedup Owain's aspirations)
