Sofa upholstered with patchwork of Berlin woolwork squares; consists of upholstered back, curved arms and seat (all seperately covered with woolwork and then fixed together). Standing on four moulded legs with ceramic castor. Each woolwork square has a paper label glued to its reverse side with the name of the original embroiderer. Berlin woolwork consists of a variety of patterns and pictures including shells, animals, figures, plaids, ribbon work and chenille embroidery. Some very finely worked.
