Photograph captioned 'Gelligroes Mill, near Blackwood. The waterwheel is made of cast iron framework and wooden bucket slats. It is an overshot wheel the water coming in on an overhead chute or launder onto the top of the wheel. The flow of the water onto the wheel is controlled by a sluice-gate, which can be operated through the round bar which is seen to enter the wall of the building. The revolving shaft of the wheel transmits its power through gear wheels to the grinding machine.' Mounted on card. Made for the exhibition RECORDING WALES 3 in 1970/1971.
