Smock
Coat-type smock in cotton twill, emboidered with linen thread. Described as a 'Sunday best' smock worn by a farm labourer at Cyninion, near Llansilin, in the mid-19th century.
Round collar, with seven mother-of-pearl button opening. Two button opening at cuffs. Two flapped pockets. The smocking is done in outline, cable, double wave and double cable. The embroidery consists of zig-zagged feather stitches in the boxes, collar and yokes.
