Obverse. The King seated on a carved shell-back throne, wearing small crown and royal robes, his left hand holds an orb below the waist, his right a sceptre obliquely, his feet resting on a cushion [from beneath which, on either side, issues a serpent] on the curved projecting footboard. Above the throne, two winged infant angels support a circular shield (the royal arms indistinct on this impresion) ensigned with the Garter and its motto. To either side, a lion couchant affrontée, behind which are three flags on lances: dext. 1. St George and the dragon; 2. A rose ensigned with a crown; 3. A thistle crowned; sin. 1. The union flag of the crosses of St Andrew and St George combined; 2. A fleur-de-lis crowned; 3. An harp crowned. Cabled borders
