Teapot, buff coloured caneware, standing on a short cylindrical foot-rim, globular body with a band of engine-turned banding around the lower body, raised lip-rim rising up into a wide guard above the spout, straight tapering spout with metal covered tip, a band of engine-turned banding around the middle of the spout, plain high loop handle, the middle of the exterior sides of the body decorated with a sprigged frieze in white clay showing a pastoral scene with female figures, one holding a baby the other holding a distaff, small children, flowers and trees, round domed cover with engine-turned banding around the top, to the centre of the cover a finial modelled in the form of a sitting female figure with arms folded and enveloped by a hooded cloak, the rim of the cover decorated with a raised sprigged frieze of leaves in white clay; left a buff colour and smear-glazed.
