coaster BANNTHORN (429gt) : Built 1917 as EBBRIX by Cochrane & Sons Ltd., Selby (triple expansion engine by Shields Engineering & Drydock Co Ltd, North Shields), for Humber Steam Coasters Ltd., (R. Rix & Son), Hull. 1939 – Sold to Ribble Shipping Co Ltd (W.J.Ireland), and renamed BANNTHORN managed by W.J.Ireland. She survived enemy aircraft gunfire and bombing at Raithlin Sound, Eire, on 11th October 1940. 1943 – Ownership transferred to Springfal Shipping Co Ltd., Liverpool (same name). 1946 – Renamed SPRINGOUSE (without change of ownership). 1947 – Ownership reverted back to Ribble Shipping and the vessel renamed BANNTHORN. 1948 – Ownership transferred to Thomas Stone (Shipping) Ltd., Swansea (Stone & Rolfe Ltd.). She was renamed BROOKSTONE in 1949. 1950 – Transferred to Thorn Line Ltd., Liverpool, and the vessel renamed BANNTHORN. She was broken up at the West of Scotland Shipbreaking Yard, Troon in 1954.
