Roman copper alloy Trumpet brooch

Complete except for the edge of the catchplate. The mouth of the bow is outlined in a white-metal band; there is a medial band of the same material, and a ring of the same around the central enamel setting (dark royal blue with reserved bronze spots, around a central jade green disc). On either side of the head is an inlaid silver ring containing a niello spot, and another such spot, without a ring, appears below. Four similar plain spots adorn the four lugs projecting from the enamelled disc, and there are three semicircular niello spots along either edge of the lower part of the bow. Two more decorate the terminals of the penannular foot (only one visible).
