Visit by mission ship JOHN WILLIAMS VI to West Bute Dock, Cardiff. Visitors to the ship were brought in by buses operated by various companies. Those visible in this photograph are Main Garage Pontypool, Sessions Motors, Rhondda UDC, and Parfitts. The Norwegian Church is visible just above the ship's forecastle.
M.V. JOHN WILLIAMS VI (419gt). Built 1946 as coaster EMPIRE SLOANE by Shipbuilding Corporation Ltd, Newcastle-upon-Tyne for MoWT. Sold in 1948 to London Missionary Society via Broadway Holdings Ltd, London. She was converted to a Missionary ship later that year and renamed JOHN WILLIAMS VI. 1963 – Sold to Burns, Philp & Co Ltd., London, and renamed MANUTAI. 1975 – Sold to Rabi Holdings Ltd., London. Deleted from the register in 1993.
