Parasol (Sunshade); silk canopy of grey moiré with stripes of satin weave and a 5cm wide stripe of warp printed fabric with a pattern of green foliage. The parasol has no inner canopy. The stretchers are connected to a metal cylinder runner; at this point, they are covered by black leather to protect the silk fabric from catching on the movable metal parts. Other metal hinges are wrapped with tabs of linen(?) Shaft and handle made of single piece of turned wood with folding mechanism covered with sliding brass cylinder, whalebone (?) ribs and carved bone ferrule at tip, grey silk fringe around edges and in-between tip and canopy. Part of brass closing mechanism (to fasten a tie-wrap) remains stitched to the outside of one of the silk panels. All hand stitched.
