Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
A statement which was made by the Managing Director of Dinorwic Slate Quarries Co. Ltd to quarry staff, informing them that the quarry was to close on Friday 22nd August, 1969. This statement was read aloud at a meeting which was held on Wednesday 20th August, 1969. Quarry staff were given a copy of the statement. This copy belonged to Mr Owen William Humphreys who worked as a steward at Dinorwic Quarries between 1946 and 1969 (he became redundant when the quarry closed). The statement explains some of the reasons why the quarry was to close.
