Early Medieval human remains
These are remains from the Inhumation Burial of an Adult They are poorly preserved with only tiny fragments of bones from the individual's legs remaining.
They were buried in an extended supine position in a simple grave oriented West-East The burial recording sheet lists the orientation as East-West, however post excavation analysis seems to have determined it was the other way around. The Field Diagram shows stones at the East end, which may have led the original excavator to think they were to rest the head, however as the leg bones are quite close to those stones and from the overal shape of the grave cut post excavation decided those stone were on the foot end. Only half of the grave cut survives due to significant truncation.
The fragments were not included in the Osteological report but are included among Burial Phase C on the site maps.
