Roman copper alloy ear ring
Distorted wire of varying thickness ending in sharp tapered hooks. This would appear to be an earring of Allason-Jones 1984, Type 3 with the terminals unwound. The usual method of wearing such earrings, either as decorative items on their own or with pendants attached, was to thread the wire through the pierced ear and then wind the ends around each other to secure it. Obviously to remove them the ends had to be unwound.
