Two-handled cup or bowl of pale red earthenware, standing on a tapering foot rim, rounded spreading sides, broad horizontal outer rim; twin horizontal loop handles attached to outer rim; painted on the exterior sides in varying shades of brown with four naively painted pigeons in flight, with dark brown heads, banding to outstretched wings and dot and cross-hatched patterning to the bodies, interspersed with vertical panels consisting of three pale brown radiating dot motifs on a dark brown ground, the whole painted so as to appear upside down when the object rests on its foot rim; the central painted panel bordered by dark brown triangles radiating from the foot rim and a border of roughly painted zig-zags to the upper rim; the handles, foot rim and lip rim striped with brown bands, the interior with three broad bands of dark brown around a dark brown circle in the central well, the whole extensively cracked and restored.
