Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
(Map in correspondance file under 'R. Newstead') Found in bed of R. Vyrnwy, lying together in gravel and river silt, above low water mark. These pierced 'net-sinkers' have been submitted to Dr. H.H. Thomas, of the Geological Survey. He writes of one of them; "The object is certainly artificial and appears to be made of cement. The crust in the hole is carbonate of lime and has formed probably through the presence of some material such as rope or wood in the hole bringing about its deposition. I should think that your suggestion that the objects were net sinkers of no very remote period is most probable."
