Jug

Jug, pearlware, inset base within a flattened-off foot-rim, barrel-shaped body, plain beak spout, plain loop handle; the exterior body covered with a mottled green ground in imitation of natural stone, this then decorated in gilt with around the front of the exterior body the inscription "Long may we live / Happy may we be / Blest with content / From misfortunes / Free / Jane Tilley, 1792", the inscription enclosed by a square cartouche of foliage, two floral sprigs to the rest of the exterior body, a gilt lattice pattern border around the exterior lip-rim, the handle picked out in gilt, this gilt decoration very worn in places.
