Letter from Dean Hancock, H.M. Prison Gartree, Market Harborough, Leicestershire, to Siân James and family, 4 January 1986. Reginald Dean Hancock was one of two striking miners convicted of the murder of a taxi driver taking a strike breaker to work at Merthyr Vale Colliery on the 30 November 1984. The charge was later reduced to manslaughter. Both Dean Hancock and the other miner, Russell Shankland were released on 30 November 1989 (the 5th anniversary of the death of the taxi driver David Wilkie). In original envelope.
