Bowl, hard-paste porcelain, high foot ring with bulbous side profile and slightly flaring rim; the bowl is painted on the exterior with two near identical scenes featuring a scholar sitting at a desk with his attendant, watching, in the adjacent garden, a child playing with a dog, a gesturing child and a woman arranging flowers, the scenes divided by horizontal panels framed by flaring lines of black enamel, decorated with a Chinese style landscape in puce, with a flower in orange and grey enamel above and below, each in a black enamel scrolling cartouche, on a background of vermiculated gilding, a single red floral sprig on the interior base.
