Bowl

Caughley

Bowl, soft-paste porcelain, standing on a high straight-sided foot-rim, rounded curving sides; transfer-printed in blue with the 'Fisherman' pattern, to the exterior sides of the bowl two identical chinoiserie-style scenes showing a Chinese figure fishing in an expanse of water surrounded by outcrops of rocks, scattered amongst the rocks are small pagodas and a bird perches atop one outcrop of rocks, also to the exterior sides another chinoiserie-style scene showing a Chinese figure holding a fish and standing on what appears to be a jetty with a bamboo fence, an awning and a flowering shrub nearby, to the interior bottom of the bowl a small design of a bird perched atop an outcrop of rocks, a cell and dentil pattern border to the interior lip-rim.
