Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
The brooch has the developed Polden Hill spring arrangement with pierced discoid terminals to the side wings to support the axial bar of the spring and a pierced lug at the head for the chord. To the front of the lug is a transverse moulding and below is an elongated V-shaped tongue, the skeuomorph of a frontward chord hook extending down the bow as far as the decorative enamelled panel. The latter consists of a rectangular panel with two cental lozenges of copper alloy with enamel inlay to either side. The edges of the bow have marginal ribs which are serrated to each side of the enamelled panel. the lower part of the bow is plain and terminates in a large knobbed foot. Enamel missing as is the pin.
