Monteith

Monteith, silver, standing on a low gadrooned foot with flat rim and concave stem above, the bowl with curved sides and scalloped rim with eight notches between shaped peaks; the rim decorated with applied cast scrolls and cherub heads with pendent beads, the sides divided into eight panels, six containing flat-chased and matted chinoiseries (three panels with male figures, two with female figures, one with a large exotic bird, all six with other small birds and exotic plants), a further panel with the engraved arms of Folkes, the eighth with an engraved crest of an arm couped and armoured holding a broken spear on a wreath, the ground between the panels matted, the panels bordered by recessed elongated scrolls.
