Tankard, pale cream-coloured earthenware with a soft grey-green tinge to the glaze, inset base within a flattened-off foot-rim, cylindrical sides, plain loop handle, round domed cover of pewter attached to the tankard by a hinge at the handle, a large ball finial rises from the hinge; transfer-printed in black with to the front of the exterior body a design of two faces in profile scowling at each other when looked at one day and smiling at each other when reversed, the design surrounded by barley and vines and the inscription "COURTSHIP...etc" the top part of which is upside down and the bottom part is right way up, a black band around the exterior lip-rim of the tankard. The body of the tankard broken and repaired.
