Sampler made by Margaret Williams of Llangunider (sic) School in 1852. Wool cross stitch embroidery on canvas ground. House flanked by baskets of fruit and formal trees and birds, animals and hearts motifs, border of wavy stem with acorns.
Selvage at PR edge, upper and lower edges are finished with stitched turnbacks, PL edge is unfinished. Pattern of discoloration and former stitch holes (which appear to be machine stitched) suggest that 2cm wide strips were originally applied along edges. Rust stains, especially along upper and lower edges, suggest that sampler was once nailed to a wooden stretcher.
