Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
From an imperial building inscription, together with fragments 89.199H/1 and 89.199H/3, recording the name of Emperor Aurelian on the first line, probably in the nominative, with the word for the building constructed or rebuilt on the second. The inscription originally consisted of two or more sandstone slabs, both sides of which had been smoothly dressed. This portion is of two fragments joined.
Site Name: Roman Gates Site, Caerleon
Notes: 1 of 4 documented fragments (inscriptions) found on the north side of Backhall Street, Roman Gates development.
