Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Plate in hard-paste porcelain with foot ring and cushion moulded body and a broad, flaring octagonal flange with indented corners; at the centre is a scene in underglaze blue overpainted with polychrome enamels, the left side is framed by a flowing tree with very large blossoms through which is emerging a fisherman holding a punt in a covered boat, in the water are a carp and two ducks and at the right side of the scene is a large fortified building, above which is a bird in flight, around the well is a border of scrolls with spiked pendants in underglaze blue, the flange is decorated with a composite border also in underglaze blue, featuring flowers, foliage, trellis-work and scrolls, with floral sprigs in yellow, green and pink enamels at four of the eight indents, the rim has a plain red enamelled border overpainted with alternating diaper and bamboo patterns in gilt, with an underglaze blue shell with red and gilt details at each rim indent.
