Baton used by Caradog, the conductor of the South Wales Choral Union. 'Côr Mawr' as it was known, was a huge choir made up of 12 smaller choirs, about 460 people. They came from as far afield as Llanelli, Swansea, Merthyr and Rhondda. A statue was erected in honour of Caradog in Victoria Square, Aberdare and was designed by Sir William Goscombe John.
