Rug

Hemmingway, Eric (Weaver)

Floor rug, double weave in grey (with red, white and green flecks), dark brown, blue and red which has faded to orange; reversible. Made using yarns which are z plied with 4 s spun singles; weavecount - 4 warps per 1cm 3 wefts per 1cm . Fringes at the warp ends.The design is by weaver Eric Hemmingway who called it 'Tapestry' which he adapted and enlarged from the traditional carthen pattern. The design features 10 Carthen motifs across the width and 12 along the length. On the front the ground is grey with blue and brown motifs and orange dashed lines, on the reverse the promenant colour is orange with vertical and horizontal stripes of blue and brown.
