Brynderi Anthracite Limited, £1 ordinary share, 1928, blue on white. * Blue print on white with handwritten details completed in black ink. Blue ornate border around. Embossed blue company seal at bottom right. 1,600 £1 shares numbered 15632 to 17231. Dated 29th June 1928. Issued to Percy John Martin Loft, George Bennett ? and Frederick ? Beadon. Signed by Frank ? and George Macm? (Directors) and ? B?hard (Secretary).
Formed 1928 to reconstruct the Brynderi Anthracite Colliery (1923) Ltd., which itself had been a restructuring of the Brynderi Anthracite Colliery Ltd. The 1928 company had no more success than its predecessors, going into receivership in 1930, production ceasing at Brynderi Colliery, Lower Cwmtwrch, in 1931, and the colliery being abandoned in 1933. The company was not dissolved until 1948 however. The colliery employed a maximum of 236 whilst in the ownership of the 1928 company. A not untypical instance of a geologically and financially troubled Welsh anthracite colliery.
