Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Only the fragmentary sections from the lower and upper left-hand corners of the relief survive. The right half of the slab is restored in cement. The decoration, carved in low relief, is contained in a rectangular panel framed with a simple moulded border. In the scene, a large dog is depicted confronting a wild animal. A single stylized tree is in the background, an upper section of which is missing. The wild animal, of which only the mask remains, has the appearance of either a lion or a bear, the former being the most likely.
This slab may have adorned a tomb in one of the cemeteries surrounding the fortress.
