open-fronted gown of cotton print fabric; overall background leaf pattern in mustard yellow, with trailing stems, leaves and flowers outlined in black; flowers printed in pink, with pencil blue; leaves printed in pink and yellow and green (made up of yellow, over-painted with pencil blue); gown originally with fitted waist, pointed at back of bodice, with central seam and two curving seams on back; neckline square at back; with two separate pieces of fabric stitched over shoulders; square neckline at front; edge-to-edge front of bodice, rounded print at waist; bodice just below elbow; purple silk trimming at sleeve edge; open-fronted skirt gathered into waistline; dress altered at a later date to give higher waistline, with addition of a lace collar and bib front (these alterations to be removed by WFM)
