Blazer badge

Rugby blazer badge of the Welsh International Rugby Team which won the Triple Crown in 1908.

Orange silk ground embroidered (mainly) with gold-coloured wire and coils: Prince of Wales Plumes with 'Ich dien' motto embroidered with white silk thread onto blue silk fabric (which is adhered to orange ground). Below are three crowns (embroidery also uses black thread for these) and the year '1908'. The edges of the shield-shaped badge are outlined with two thin lengths of curled metal wire. The badge has a backing of black wool felt, which itself is backed by a cellulosic canvas fabric and a final layer of dark blue (tissue?) paper which is ahered to the back.
