Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
A mishapen pilgrim badge with integral pin. The badge is in the form of a sword and shield. The sword is retractable from the decorative sheath and has declining quillons; the pommel is now missing. The buckler shield has a beaded border with the is decorated with a grid pattern; a small circular knop is at the centre of each square.
The orieintation of the badge shows the sword as upright sitting across the shield.
On the reverse is an integral pin set vertically. It extends the length of the buckler. There is a casting seam running the length of the sword and a criss-cross pattern on the surface of the buckler.
The blade of the sword is bent in two places; at approximately half and 2/3 way down.
